CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA!

I was afraid to be too confident. Four years ago, when I was living in Italy, I was confident that America was fed up and would vote away Bush. The disappointment then was huge. So this time I held back. But more than once today while watching CNN 's reports and hearing Obama speak upon his victory, tears filled my eyes. Me, moved by politics, who would have ever thought! Trite exclamations such as "A New Era" and "History is being made today" all of a sudden ring true now. I am happy for America, even for the Republicans who feel defeated, because for once I will say it out loud, you all have been wrong, so wrong, and this decision that has now been made for you by millions of others, is the right one for your country and the world. You just don't know it! Congratulations to all Americans who stood in line and who voted for a NEW president. We over here on this side of the ocean can finally cease feeling ashamed about being American (or the wife of).

Hooray!
